The Ashworth’s Building was built by the Cary Masons in 1931 to be the largest building in downtown Cary at the time. Henry Adams was the first pharmacist at the location, followed by Ralph Ashworth, whose family name would become synonymous with the landmark for generations.
Downstairs, the neighborhood drugstore became a gathering place for prescriptions, conversation, hot dogs—and more than a few stories. Upstairs, the Cary Masons met for decades in rooms that held meetings, traditions, and mysteries of their own.
